Title: Cultural-oriented Mobile Game Application and the Gamification of Tourism
Authors: Ioannis Rallis, George Kopsiaftis, Ilias Kalisperakis, Christos Stentoumis, Dimitris Koutsomitsos, and Vivian Riga

Abstract: This paper briefly presents the overall concept of an ”advergame” which aims to reproduce complete processes of the touristic sector using Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Photogrammetric techniques. A realistic game experience will be used as the basis for both entertainment and educational purposes. The mobile game application will be developed in a six phase process, which will include the the implementation of state-of-the-art Image Processing and Computer Graphics techniques to create accurate 3D background and the development of an efficient game engine. The sub-systems and individual components of the game engine will be designed in such a way that will allow the reproduction of several real-world scenarios, which will represent a complete touristic experience, including a significant number of services and products.

Title: A mobile game for enhancing Tourism and Cultural Heritage
Authors: Ioannis Rallis, George Kopsiaftis, Ilias Kalisperakis, Christos Stentoumis, Dimitris Koutsomitsos, Vivian Riga

Abstract: This paper briefly describes the overall concept of ”TRAVEL TYCOON GREECE” (TTGR), a novel business simulation game which aims to simulate realistically a complete tourism experience. The latest image processing and computer graphics technologies were utilized to create accurate 3D backgrounds with different levels of detail, which were incorporated in the game engine and serve as a realistic and accurate terrain allowing the user to navigate in selected historical and touristic areas of Greece. A series of real-world scenarios representing multiple components of the tourism section were designed primarily for entertainment and marketing purposes. In order to motivate users to participate in the game or remain active, an incorporated ticketing platform allows users to win offers such as touristic products and services.

Title: Use of Photogrammetry in Business Simulation Game

Authors: Ilias Kalisperakis, George Kopsiaftis,  Ioannis Rallis, Christos Stentoumis, Anisa Kouka, Vivian Riga, Dimitris Koutsomitsos.

Abstract: This paper briefly presents the photogrammetric techniques that were used to create 3D game assets for a business simulation game named “TRAVEL TYCOON GREECE” (TTGR). Specifically, a combination of several methods, including structure from motion, dense stereo and dense multi-view 3D techniques were applied on a significant number of drone images to reconstruct realistically 3D models for two crucial visual components of the game: 1) maps of the areas of interest, which represent the background of the TTGR game and 2) cultural heritage artefacts which, apart from the educational value, could be utilized in the game’s ticketing platform.
